Made with the natural moisture-absorbing and sweat-wicking properties of rush grass, it is designed to be placed inside a helmet. Even when riding under the hot sun, it keeps your hair dry and comfortable while carrying a light, natural grassy scent.

Velcro straps are sewn on both sides to secure the liner in place and prevent slipping. Thanks to the flexibility of woven rush grass, it naturally adapts to different helmet shapes, ensuring a comfortable and stable fit for most helmets.

The Origin of the Helmet Liner

In 1997 (ROC Year 86), the government mandated helmet use for motorcycle riders to reduce traffic injuries. After the regulation was implemented nationwide, people’s choice of headwear became limited by helmet structures. Traditional woven straw hats, which were more decorative and portable, saw a sharp decline in demand, and the hat-weaving industry was severely impacted.

In response to changing market conditions, hat shops in Yuanli utilized the moisture-absorbing properties of rush grass and developed the rush grass helmet liner in 1999 (ROC Year 88), later securing a patent. It quickly became one of the most popular rush grass products.

The Vanishing Rush Grass Craft

All rush grass products are handcrafted by skilled artisans in Yuanli. Rush grass was once a vital local industry, forming a complete production chain—from cultivation and post-harvest processing to weaving and distribution—that supported generations of families.

With the rise of the petrochemical industry and the replacement of traditional crafts by synthetic textiles, rush grass fields have gradually declined, and the weaving skills are fading with aging master artisans.
